Before we met, the Lord burdened both of us with the lost in Africa. John
surrendered to go anywhere, even Africa, for
Christ while in high school. While
working at Bob Jones University
during the summer of 1992, he was confronted with the possibility of going on
the Kenya Mission Team the following summer.
Sophie became interested in missions in high school through the
testimony of a local veterinarian who went on mission trips to Haiti. A university professor shared with her a
burden for the lost in Kenya. As we started dating we were surprised to
learn that God was leading us both to Africa. Since our marriage in 1995, God has increased
our desire to serve Him on the mission field.
He has confirmed His calling for our lives through the support and
encouragement of our family, friends and home church.
In 2004 we began full-time
deputation under Gospel Fellowship Association to go to the country of Kenya. However, in early 2005 the Lord closed the
door for us to go Kenya
even before we arrived on the field.
Through much prayer and godly counsel the Lord directed us to Zambia. We were able to take a survey trip in May
2005 where the Lord confirmed in our hearts that Zambia is where He wanted us to
minister.
